How to Create Polls

Learn how to create engaging polls that gather valuable feedback and opinions from your users using the Management Portal. This guide will walk you through the process of creating and managing polls from scratch, highlighting the necessary and optional configurations.

Accessing Polls Game Creation Page

  1. In the left sidebar, navigate to the Manage section
  2. Select Polls from the menu
  3. Click the blue Create button located at the top of the Polls management page

Necessary Fields

The fields described below are required to create a poll. These core settings must be completed before any of your polls can be saved or launched.

Title

A required field for every poll. Provides a clear and engaging name that helps users understand what they're voting on. The title can be edited even after poll creation. Make it compelling and descriptive - for example: "Do you think Manchester United performed as well as they could have?" or "Who will win the Premier League this season?"

Options

A critical field requiring a minimum of 2 options for users to choose from when voting. This is the minimum options requirement to create a functional poll. For each option, you must provide:

  • Title: The only required element for each option - a clear, concise label that represents the choice (e.g., if your poll asks "Do you think Manchester United performed as well as they could have?", your option titles could simply be "Yes" and "No")

Multiple options can be added using the "Add option" button to provide users with additional choices beyond the minimum requirement.

Optional Fields

The fields below provide additional opportunities to enhance your polls. They are completely optional - polls can be successfully created and launched using only the required fields already described above.

Alternative Title

An optional secondary title that can be used for different display contexts or A/B testing purposes.

Description

Provides additional context about the poll using a rich text editor for enhanced formatting. You can explain what you're asking users to vote on, why their opinion matters and include any background information you see fit.

Option Enhancements

For each poll option, you can optionally enhance the voting experience by clicking the respective buttons to enable additional configuration:

  • Description: Click "Add description" to enable description fields for providing additional context or explanation for each option
  • Images: Click "Add images" to enable image upload fields for making options more visual and engaging
  • Embed Code: Click "Add embed code" to enable custom content fields for including media or other embedded content

All of these enhancements are completely optional and can be added to individual options as needed to create more engaging and informative polls.

Profile Preferences Mapping

An advanced feature that allows you to create polls that collect user preference data alongside voting responses. Before you can use this feature, you must first configure your preferences and preference categories in the system - these serve as the foundation that you'll select from when setting up individual poll preferences.

Once your preferences framework is established, this feature transforms your poll into a powerful data collection tool that gathers insights about user demographics, brand preferences, product interests, and lifestyle choices. Users answer polls while you simultaneously build detailed preference profiles for enhanced targeting and personalization.

For a comprehensive guide on setting up your preferences foundation, check out our detailed preferences configuration article to get started with this powerful feature. πŸ“š

Enable Multiple Choice

Located in the Configuration tab, this powerful feature allows users to select multiple options in a single poll rather than being limited to one choice. When enabled:

  • Users can select several options that apply to their preferences or opinions
  • You can set a Maximum Options limit to control how many selections users can make
  • Perfect for "Select all that apply" type questions or gathering comprehensive feedback on multiple aspects
  • Ideal for preference surveys, feature requests, or any scenario where users might have multiple valid responses

This feature transforms traditional single-choice polls into more sophisticated data collection tools, providing richer insights into user preferences and opinions.

Additional Configuration Options

Several optional configuration sections are available on the right side of the management portal. Click on the links to read more about: Ad content, Branding, Configuration, Context, Custom Fields, Flags, Images, Labels, Related Functionality, Rules & Scheduler

πŸ“‹ Important Notes

  • Always click Save to create or update a poll
  • You can create and manage multiple polls with different configurations and edit them at any time
