Question-Level Translation

The Question-Level Translation feature allows you to translate individual questions from the Browse Questions library into your default language when adding them to a quiz. This functionality is specifically available when using the Browse Questions feature in quizzes with zero participants.

How Question-Level Translation Works

When browsing and selecting questions to add to your quiz, you can translate them directly into your default language. The translation preserves all question components including the question text, answer options, and explanations.

💡 Note: Question translation is only available when using Browse Questions functionality and only for translation INTO your default language.

Important Considerations

  • Question translation through Browse Questions is only available for Quizzes that haven't been taken by any users yet (0 participants). Once a quiz has participants new questions cannot be added from Browse Questions
  • Questions can only be translated into your default language
  • When using Browse Questions, you can:
    • Add questions in their original language
    • Translate and add questions to your default language
  • All question components are translated, including:
    • Question text
    • Answer options
    • Explanations
    • Any additional content fields
  • The original question in Browse Questions remains unchanged and available in English

Translating Individual Questions

  1. Locate the question/s through the Browse Questions functionality (either in quiz creation mode or from an existing quiz with 0 participants)
  2. Click "Translate to [Default Language] and Add to Quiz"
  3. Review the translated content
  4. Make any necessary adjustments to the translation
  5. Save your changes

Step-by-Step Screenshot Guide

Step 1: Access the quiz editing page by either:

  • Creating a new quiz from scratch, or
  • Opening an existing quiz for editing (must have 0 participants)

Step 2: In the quiz editing page, locate and click the Browse Questions feature

Step 3: Select the question/s you want to add to your quiz and choose either:

  • "Add to Quiz" for original language
  • "Translate to [Default Language] and Add to Quiz" for translated version

Step 4: Review the translated content

Step 5: Save your changes
