What is a Personality Quiz?
Personality Quiz is a feature that allows content creators to create interactive quizzes that match users to different personality types based on their answers. Unlike traditional quizzes with right or wrong answers, Personality Quiz uses a weighted scoring system where each answer option contributes points toward different personas, ultimately revealing which personality type best matches the user's responses.
You can create multiple Personality Quizzes for your users and customize them with various personas, questions, and scoring logic. Learn how to create a Personality Quiz from scratch, configure different personality results, and set up the weighted scoring system.
Creating a Personality Quiz
To access the Personality Quiz feature:
- Navigate to the Manage section in the left sidebar
- Select Personality Quizzes from the features list
- Click the Create button to start building a new quiz
To create a new Personality Quiz, you'll need to configure several key components. Start with the basic quiz information:
⚙️ Basic Quiz Information
Title
You're required to provide a name every time you create a Personality Quiz. The name can be edited even after quiz creation.
Alternative Title
This optional field allows you to provide a secondary title that can be displayed in different contexts or used for A/B testing purposes.
Description
Here's where you can add a description to your quiz. You can specify what personality types your quiz will explore and set user expectations. For example: "Take this comprehensive quiz to discover what type of sports fan you are and learn more about your viewing habits and preferences!"
⚙️ Configuring Personas
Personas are the different personality results that users can receive based on their quiz answers. Each persona represents a distinct personality type with its own characteristics and description.
Adding Personas
- In the Personas section, click the Add button to create a new persona
- Each persona requires a Title - provide a clear, descriptive name for the personality type (e.g., "Casual Observer", "Die-Hard Fanatic", "Strategic Analyst")
- Click Show additional fields to access additional configuration options including description and image settings
Description: Write a detailed description that explains the characteristics of this personality type. This description will be shown to users who match this persona, so make it engaging and relatable. For example:
Images: You can upload images to visually represent each persona. Click Upload image to add a main image, or use Show more images to add a mobile-specific image.
⚙️ Adding Questions and Options
Questions form the core of your Personality Quiz. Each question should be designed to help differentiate between the various personas you've created.
To add questions to your quiz:
- Click the Add question button to create a new question
- Repeat this process to add as many questions as needed for your quiz
Question Setup
Question
Write clear, engaging questions that relate to the personality traits you want to assess. Questions should be specific enough to generate meaningful differences in responses.
Explanation
This optional field allows you to provide users with more information about the question. For example, if the question is "How often do you watch sports?", the explanation could be: "This helps us understand your viewing frequency and commitment level."
Answer Options
Each question can have multiple answer options. For each option, you'll need to:
- Write the option text - Give users meaningful options to choose from
- Assign persona points - Each answer option must include point values for all personas you've created. Higher numbers indicate stronger alignment with that personality type.
For example, the answer "I watch sports only during major events like championship finals or playoffs" might assign:
- 3 points to the Casual Observer Persona - this perfectly matches someone who watches occasionally
- 0 points to the Die-Hard Fanatic Persona - a fanatic would watch much more frequently
- 1 point to the Strategic Analyst Persona - they might analyze major events but prefer to watch more regularly
- 2 points to the Social Sports Fan Persona - major events are indeed often social viewing occasions
💡 Finding it hard to understand point allocation? Take a look at this complete example showing all four answer options and their persona point distributions for the question "How often do you watch sports?":
How Does the Quiz Pick The User Persona?
The system totals points across all questions to determine which persona best matches the user's responses.
For example: If a user consistently picks answers that give high points to the "Casual Observer" persona across multiple questions, then "Casual Observer" will accumulate the most points. After the system adds up all the points from every question, "Casual Observer" will have the highest total, so that's the persona the user receives as their result.
Best Practices for Point Assignment:
- Ensure each persona has opportunities to score high points across different questions
- Avoid giving the same point distribution to multiple personas for the same option
- Test your point distributions to ensure balanced results
