Notes on the Rules

Establishing clear and transparent rules for the Match Quiz game is essential to ensure a smooth user experience and avoid potential disputes. The rules should cover all possible contingencies, such as postponed or canceled matches, and provide clear guidelines for how results will be determined.

Key Rules

Postponements/Cancellations:
Make sure to clearly state what happens if a match is postponed or canceled.

Provider Data:
It’s crucial to inform participants that the final result is based on the official data provided by your data provider. This data is final, even if a different result is reported elsewhere. Transparency is key—clarify that external discrepancies (such as those seen in media outlets or other platforms) will not affect the final results of the game.

Announcement Time:
Give yourself enough time to announce the winners, ideally 48-72 hours after the match is played. This allows for any potential issues with data discrepancies or last-minute changes from the data provider to be addressed. Occasionally, data providers may update match data after the fact (e.g., correcting earlier mistakes). Setting this buffer period ensures you have enough time to recalculate results and announce the correct winners based on accurate data.

Additional Considerations:

  • Clearly communicate any tiebreaker rules in case multiple users end up with the same number of correct predictions.
  • Specify the timeframe within which participants can submit their entries (e.g., up until one hour before the first match starts).
  • Consider adding an FAQ section or rulebook directly on the Match Quiz page to make the rules easily accessible to users at any time.
