Bracket Games: Configuration Guide

Setting up a Bracket Game requires several steps to ensure proper configuration of participants, fixtures, and game settings. This guide walks you through the complete setup process.

Creating a New Bracket Game

  1. Navigate to the Games Management section in the left sidebar
  2. Select Bracket Games from the game options
  3. Click the Create button to begin setup

Basic Configuration

When creating a new Bracket Game, you'll need to configure these essential settings:

Game Information:

  • ID: Enter a unique identifier (e.g., "iccchampionstrophy")
  • Title: Add a descriptive title for users (e.g., "ICC Champions Trophy")
  • Description: Enter any content you find appropriate - competition details, prize information, how the game works, engagement incentives, or other relevant information (Optional Field)
  • Cutoff Time: Set the deadline for users to submit their predictions

💡 Tip: You can set the cutoff time shortly before the first fixture begins to maximize participation while ensuring fair gameplay.

Managing Participants

The Participants tab allows you to add all teams/players and placeholder positions:

  1. Click the Add participant button to add each known team/player
  2. For each participant, configure:
    • ID: Numerical identifier
    • Name: Team/Player or placeholder name
    • Group: Assign to tournament groups if applicable ( E.g. Group A & Group B for tourneys with 2 pools of 4 teams)
    • Undecided: Toggle for placeholder participants
    • Image: Upload team flags or logos

Setting Up Placeholder Participants

For tournament stages where participants aren't yet determined:

  1. You can add placeholder participants using coded names (e.g., "A1" for "Winner of Group A", "A2" for "Runner-Up of Group A")
  2. Set the Undecided toggle to "ON" for these participants

Configuring Fixtures

After adding participants, set up the matches in the Fixtures tab:

  1. Click the Fixtures tab in the main navigation
  2. Set up each match with:
    • ID: Unique match identifier
    • Participant One/Two: Select the players/teams or placeholders
    • Start Date: Schedule when the match begins
    • Winner: Can be left empty until the match completes
    • Score: Add match scores once available

Managing Results

As the tournament progresses:

  1. Update fixtures with actual results
  2. Update placeholder participants with actual teams as they qualify
  3. Click the "Resolve predictions" button (shown in the game management interface) to officially conclude the game and calculate user scores

⚠️ Note: Carefully manage the transition from group stages to knockout rounds by updating placeholder participants with the actual teams that advance.
